Monthly totals
* Ground strikes are summed over UTC days (8 PM–8 PM Eastern in summer).
Daily log
* Ground strikes: NOAA / Vaisala NLDN cloud-to-ground counts for UTC days, estimated for the city from 0.1° grid cells. See methodology.
Integrations
Automatically adds each day's rainfall and lightning to the project's Daily Log and files the report in Documents. It never sets weather delays or completes a log.
About this data
- Days run local midnight to midnight, America/New_York (23 or 25 hours on daylight-saving change days).
- Estimated rainfall is the average over the Vineland city boundary of NOAA Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor 1-hour gauge-corrected estimates. It is an estimate, not a gauge reading.
- Nearby station rainfall is measured at Millville Municipal Airport (KMIV), outside Vineland, via the Iowa Environmental Mesonet.
- Satellite lightning is counted from NOAA's GOES-East Geostationary Lightning Mapper: flashes whose centre falls inside the city boundary. It measures total lightning (cloud-to-ground and in-cloud together) at roughly 8 km resolution, so it is an area-level record, not strikes at a location.
- Xweather ground-network flashes are collected live from Sep 22, 2026 onward. Separate cloud-to-ground and in-cloud counts require Xweather's Lightning Enterprise add-on and appear when it is active. None of these are confirmed strikes at any jobsite.
- Missing data is never shown as zero. Statuses: complete, provisional (day not yet final), incomplete (a source is missing part of the day), unavailable.
- This is a weather record, not a real-time lightning safety or all-clear system.
